Poultry Science on “Show” at Camden

by Jo-Ann Geist

Among the premier agricultural exhibits, the Poultry Research Foundation (PRF) made a triumphant return, participating within The University of Sydney’s prominent display tent near the President’s Common. The stand experienced high levels of engagement and interest from the public across both days, bridging the gap between cutting-edge Poultry Science education and the local community.

The two-day exhibition successfully captured two distinct, highly engaged demographics:

Friday’s School Influx: The tent welcomed a large wave of local school groups. Students eagerly tested their knowledge with interactive poultry quizzes and asked insightful questions about agriculture and avian biology.

Saturday’s Public Outreach: The crowd shifted toward adults and families. Discussions naturally focused on backyard chicken health, sustainable food production, and raising the overall visibility of tertiary Poultry Science pathways at USYD.

The success of these outreach events is due to the dedication and professionalism of our staff and students. Your volunteered time and expertise made a meaningful community impact while boosting the University’s reputation. On behalf of the PRF and Faculty of Science, thank you to everyone who participated.
