APSS 2025 Planning Well Underway
With only around 160 days until APSS 2025, organisation of the 36th annual symposium is going extremely well. We have confirmed 11 world-class invited speakers to join us in Sydney next February, presenting on a diverse range of industry-related topics.
Assoc. Prof. Sonia Liu wins a prestigious Australian Research Council (ARC) Industry Fellowship
As the adage goes, “Success begets success”. Congratulations to Dr Sonia Liu who has won the ARC Early Career Industry Fellowship. This is on top of her ARC Linkage Project earlier this year worth over a million dollars to examine the use of reduced protein diets in poultry production.
A New Era for the Poultry Research Foundation
We have recently been given the green light to officially become a Research Centre within the University. The transition changes PRF from a Foundation deemed a fundraising body under Australian Consumer Law to a university research entity aligned with the poultry and allied industries. As a result, PRF will retain its name as well as the Industry Council as an advisory body.

APSS 2024 Concludes with Record-Breaking Numbers
The Australian Poultry Science Symposium (APSS) 2024 wrapped up its program in February with a resounding success, marking a significant milestone for joint coordinators, Poultry Research Foundation – University of Sydney and WPSA – Australian Branch.

The 35th Australian Poultry Science Symposium (APSS) will be held at the Sheraton Grand Hotel, Sydney Hyde Park, between 19-21 February 2024. The central theme of APSS 2024 will be “Frontier Science – Integrating Nutrition, Gut Health and Welfare”.

In this Edition, we will feature Dr Wendy Muir’s work on the productivity and welfare of long-life laying hens, an interview of the General Manager for Farming at Inghams, Dr Sheridan Alfirevich and the profile of PhD student, Christine Clark. In addition, I would like to talk briefly about our flagship poultry science conference, the Australian Poultry Science Symposium, known as APSS.
